Teachers Helping Teachers Award

Description: Literacy Empowerment Foundation would like to acknowledge the many early elementary educators who help other educators. Examples of good deeds include starting a website that shows different and exciting ways of teaching specific subjects, presenting at conferences, mentoring new teachers, or volunteering with extracurricular activities. Individuals may nominate an educator for an award. Every week, a new award winner will be chosen.

Funds: LEF will send each winner $100.00 worth of books for their school, along with a certificate that acknowledges their achievement.

 

Toshiba American Foundation 6-12 Grant

Description: Do you teach 6-12 science or math? Do you have a wish list of instructional equipment that will make learning more exciting for your students? If the answer is yes to these questions, Toshiba America Foundation would like to hear from you. Grade 6-12 applications for $5,000.00 or less are accepted on a rolling basis, throughout the calendar year. Summer projects or after school programs cannot be considered. Salaries, facility maintenance, textbooks, video production, audio-visual equipment (e.g. electronic white boards, document projectors, student response systems) and education research will not be funded. No grants are available for computer hardware. No single school may receive more than one grant at a time.

eInstruction Technology Professional Development Grants

Description: eInstruction is offering $3,500 to K-12 schools and districts that host an educational technology conference, a 1-2 day event that offers sessions on instructional technology tools to help educators integrate technology into their curriculum. The conferences will be geared towards those interested in enhancing the teaching and learning of mathematics, science, and other subject areas through the use of interactive technology solutions. In addition to the grant, eInstruction will offer every presentation free loaner technology, a host guide, and a toolkit.

Operation Green Plant

Description: Sponsored by the America the Beautiful Fund, the Operation Green Plant Program helps grow food for the hungry and beautify roadways, parks, and neighborhoods in 20,000 communities across the country. The program is now inviting applicants to request vegetable seeds, flower seeds, and/or herb seeds to help beautify their own communities. Applicants must write a short letter describing their project and fill out the application form.

Annie's Homegrown Garden Grant

Fruit Tree Planting Foundation (FTPF) and Stretch Island Fruit Co.

Description: The FTPF, with support from the Stretch Island Fruit Co., is sponsoring Fruit Tree 101, which invites parents to submit their children’s schools to receive a special schoolyard planting in honor of their son or daughter. No matter the location, if the winning school is a suitable public school equipped with enough green space to sustain an orchard, parents can help the environment and bring tasty treats to their children’s classmates. Fruit Tree 101 will also present the winning family with a fruit tree that can be planted at or near their home. Students of the winning school will also receive an hour-long lesson about the importance of trees, culminating in a group tree planting exercise that activates students to take positive action for their environment.

These grants can be used to jump-start your program or to realize your ideas for the first time. These are grants are for all types of community action projects around causes that you care about and are important in your community. Captain Planet

Description: The mission of the Captain Planet Foundation is to fund and support hands-on environmental projects for children and youths. Their objective is to encourage innovative programs that empower children and youth around the world to work individually and collectively to solve environmental problems in their neighborhoods and communities. Through environmental education, we believe that children can achieve a better understanding and appreciation for the world in which they live.

ALL PROJECTS MUST:

·      Promote understanding of environmental issues

·      Focus on hands-on involvement

·      Involve children and young adults 6-18 (elementary through high school)

·      Promote interaction and cooperation within the group

·      Help young people develop planning and problem solving skills

·      Include adult supervision

Grumman Foundation Tech Funding

Description: The Northrop Grumman Foundation contributes to organizations defined as tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) by the Internal Revenue Service. Their priority is to provide assistance to national-level science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) programs spanning pre-college through collegiate levels.

Grant requests are accepted throughout the year, but are reviewed late in the calendar year for funding the following year. Organizations may only submit a request for financial assistance one time in a calendar year.

Description: Are you a K-12 teacher who develops or applies science, mathematics, and technology in your curriculum? If the answer is “yes,” you may qualify for a grant of up to $200.00 per individual request to supplement your learning program. Each school is limited to up to $1,000.00 per calendar year. Use your grant for classroom demonstration kits and science supplies, math and science software, graphing calculators, supplies for making flying objects (what kid can resist the chance to build and launch a rocket?), supplies for robotic programs, and other materials to help you make science, mathematics, and technology come alive in your classroom.

Air Force Junior ROTC Grant

Description: The AFA provides grants every other academic year to support classroom aerospace educational programs, opportunities, activities, and interest when no funds are available. The AFA is currently funding K-12 teachers who wish to enhance student knowledge of how aerospace plays a prominent role in today and tomorrow’s society. Funds may be used for purchasing textbooks or videotapes, going on a field trip to an aerospace museum, Air Force base, other aerospace facility, and more.
